Project Update:

DONATIONS
We are so grateful for all of the donations we have received thus far. We have been fortunate enough to have the remaining timbers required donated, thank you Brian Hoffman.  We are still looking for a donation of cash for the pea gravel ($16,012.50) and for the asphalt ($15, 862).   If you know an asphalt company that could assist in the paving of the perimeter of the playground by being able to give us a discounted rate that would be ideal.  It is all about who you know and ask them what they can provide.    If you don’t know what we need, please send an email at ffirwin@shaw.ca and ask and we will let you know what we require.

VOLUNTEER UPDATE
Presently we have 175 people signed up to help with the build.  If you know of anyone or any group that is talking about coming out to help that day, please, encourage them to go to our website and sign up as soon as possible (www.sjwra.ltbk.ca).  We need helpers for many different areas.  We are still looking for at least 25 more volunteers for this incredible day.

ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER DATES
We also will require approximately 15-20 people at St. Jude School, 730 Woodbine Blvd. SW, on Wednesday, June 12 at 3:30 pm for the delivery and inventory count and unloading of the equipment that is arriving.  June 13 & June 14 we require an additional 10 people to assist with the prep work prior to the Big Build on Saturday.  We would require you at St. Jude School at 8:00am on both of these days.   Lunch will be provided daily.  Please contact ffirwin@shaw.ca or call Flora @ 403-681-2822 to confirm availability.

TOOL NEEDS REQUIREMENT
Listed below is the list of tools required for build day.  Please let Flora know what you are bringing prior to build day at ffirwin@shaw.caso that we can keep track of what tools we will have on site and then find out what we need.

Please ensure that any tools or supplies that you bring are labeled with your name and phone number on them.   We will have masking tape available to label if you have not done so.  There will be a lot of tools out and we want to ensure that at the end of the day all tools are returned to their rightful owners.

CHILDREN
We are asking that if you are planning on bringing younger children, you bring them when we have our scheduled Children’s program between 1-3pm.  We plan on cutting the ribbon of our new playground by 3:00pm and letting the kids experience the joy of the new playground equipment.    We have incredible activities planned for the children with many surprises.

F.A.Q.s

v  Waiver and release form?  This form will be emailed to you prior to the event, please fill it out and bring it with you on that Saturday (Build day).  This will speed up the registration process and will help to get you working and making a difference quicker!
v  What to wear?  Dress for activity, although none of the work is overly strenuous, you should be dressed for working around the “yard”.  If you are working on the playgrounds or any of the other types of work... you are going to get dirty and want to dress for it...please no open toe shoes or sandals, better safe than sorry.  Please bring work gloves if you have them!
v  What is the schedule for the day?  You will receive a schedule for the day one week prior to the event and it will be posted on the web site at that time as well
v  What if it rains?  The project goes rain or shine...only in a case of extreme weather would we postpone...in the unlikely event that happened we would go the following Saturday
v  When do we eat?  Coffee will be served in the morning and bottled water will be available throughout the whole day.  Lunch will be served between the hours of 11:30 am until 1 pm.
v  Do we still need more help?  We need all the help we can get.  Please come with your teams from work and wear a shirt identified with the logo (if available) or anything that represents your group...that is part of the fun!
v  Any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask or go to our website for more info (www.sjwra.ltbk.ca )

Stay tuned for our next update.  Again, thank you in advance for your help and your willingness to build a brighter today and a better tomorrow for the kids.
