St. Jude School, in the heart of the Woodbine Community in Calgary is in
desperate need of new playground. The school teamed up
with the Woodcreek Community Association and Fish Creek Sports Association
with the vision to raise enough money to build a new playground and skate park to create a recreation area for the whole community to enjoy.
A collaborative application was submitted to Let Them Be Kids for the
Helping Hands Award. Let Them Be Kids is a national, all volunteer, non-profit, community based organization. They act as a
catalyst for the building of playgrounds, skate parks and fitness parks
across Canada and beyond. In early March 2013, St. Jude school was notified that
they had WON the national award. The Helping Hands Award will MATCH funds raised
and help build a Community Recreation Area at St. Jude School and the
surrounding fields behind the school.
